Frequently
Asked Questions
Got a question? Send
it here. We will answer as soon as possible!
Q. Do we need to bring our own fishing gear for our Charter?
Not at all. Outbound Alaska Charters has all the fishing
gear needed onboard each charter boat. Our
fishing equipment is all top of the line with salmon combinations
made up of G-Loomis
rods fitted with Diawa line counter reels. Halibut setups
match All
Star Rods with Shimano reels both in single and two speed.
Q. What kind of wildlife can we possibly expect to see?
One of the great things about fishing in Alaska is the scenery
and the wildlife. The waters around Sitka are rich with an array
of different wildlife. Definitely bring your camera! We commonly
encounter whales
and porpoise quite
often, and there are many eagles in the Sitka
area near the shoreline. We occasionally will see brown
bear and
blacktail deer on many trips on remote stretches
of beach, and there are many
sea lions, sea otters, harbor seals in Southeast Alaska.
Q. What is there to do in Sitka BESIDES fishing?
There are alot of interesting things to do in Sitka, Alaska.
There are a couple of museums you can visit, and there is great
shopping outlets all through the town. Also, there are
some really good restaurants in Sitka. Whale Park was built in
1995, and offers "whale watching" from the boardwalk, during late
fall and early spring months. Sitka is a very picturesque Alaska
city, with a lot of great photo opportunities.
Q. I have a ten year old boy who would I like to take
on his first charter fishing trip. Is that possible?
We can take children on charter trips. As a safety precaution,
we have children wearing a lifevest at all times, especially when
out on deck. Please check with us for more information about children,
and ages.
Q. Can we pay for our trip using a credit
card ?
Yes. Currently, Outbound Alaska Charters takes Master
Card and Visa. We do not accept American Express.
